On Floor 2 and Floor 4 of HSB Living Lab, we’ve altered the perspective from the start – the apartments here are not measured in square metres but in cubic metres, and the ceiling height on these floors is significantly higher than on Floor 3.
Measuring a living space in cubic metres is a new way to describe function. The apartments om Floors 2 and 4 are 47 cubic metres. They are also cube shaped – each side of the apartment measures 3.6 metres. On these two floors, residents live in a cluster of six apartments that share a kitchen, living room, bathroom and balcony. We will be conducting research into the sharing economy and how people can share spaces in the best way
On Floor 3 there are five more traditional apartments, with between two and four rooms plus a kitchen, without any shared functions.
So who are the people living here in the lab? The tenants in all apartments are ordinary students, HSB members and guest researchers. But this is an extraordinary living space!
