What is HSB Living Lab?
HSB Living Lab is a living lab, the only one of its kind in the world. It’s a residential building for 30-40 students, guest researchers and doctoral students at the heart of Chalmers Campus Johanneberg. While providing a home for many people for a long time, the entire building is prepared for research into the sustainable living of the future. There are other living labs around the world, but none where so many people will be living permanently for such a long time. At HSB Living Lab, research are moving in with the residents and not the other way round. The building is constructed in modules and will be in place for a decade before being dismantled and moved.

What awaits residents of HSB Living Lab?
Can you picture yourself living among measuring equipment, washing with your mates in the foyer and seeing elite researchers from all over the world wandering round the building? If so, HSB Living Lab’s student accommodation is for you. There’s no denying it – this will be a special place to live. But if you want to live in a unique, dynamic environment where you’ll be able to make contact with students, researchers and the business community while also living with modern facilities – well, this is the home for you. The things you do and the research and tests carried out will give us invaluable input to help develop the accommodation of the future.
