A Bostadsrättsförening is a type of joint ownership of property in which the whole property is owned by a co-operative association, which in its turn is owned by its members. It's a form of living and ownership in between a rental flat and an owned house. This form of housing/living is not common outside of the Nordic countries. Each member holds a share in the association. Members are required to have a tenant-ownership, which represents the apartment, and live permanently at the address. If you need to sublet (Andrahandsupplåtelse) the apartment for purposes specified in this website, permission has to be granted by the board (Styrelsen).
