Om HSB

History

Good Living is both our history and passion. HSB started in 1923 as a cooperative organisation to provide better housing conditions and creating new ideas that really improve domestic life.

In the 1920’s we introduced ideas such as functional kitchens and chutes in our properties, and more recently, in the 1990’s, broadband.

The cooperative housing idea started during a time when housing conditions were socially inept. Many people lived in primitive and difficult housing situations. HSB's aim was to improve the living conditions by providing members with healthy and affordable homes.

The idea of combining property development and property management was unique and is very much a part of our history. A qualitative objective was established - we would build homes with an adequate standard, a quality concept that has been our driving force ever since.
